The Bone Season Review

Two Stars

The Bone Season sounded interesting when I picked it up, but I was not drawn in to the story. The lack of dialogue between characters and the implausible aspects of the plot (And I write about zombies) made it hard to want to continue reading.

It was also difficult to like the main character. She joins an underworld crime syndicate because of her special powers without any real thought or consideration. Her father never suspected that she was different, just normal and unmotivated. What else could she to do? A lot based of the fact that her father has a rather high level government job.

The language is complicated as well. The author does not explain all the different types of clairvoyants well or provide details about many other elements and characters in the novel, leaving the reader guessing and confused at times. Overall, not what I expected and I put the book down half the way through.
